![]() Topic: zipper foot making stitches loosePosted: 29 Aug 2010 at 9:40am |

Hi everyone
I do hope someone can help me as I have a really urgent sewing task and need my zipper foot to work for me.
I am desperately busy adapting clothing for my grandson who has just had a major operation on his leg. He now has to wear a large metal frame around his leg for the next 9 months at least.
I have found some popper tape of various widths and it works well as a means of fixing his trousers BUT it is driving me nuts as my zipper foot seems to hate the fabric (which is polyester or nylon). When I try a stitch test on other fabric the zipper foot works fine but when I attempt to sew in the popper tape it creates loopy stitches which just pull straight through.
I have searched the web for advice without luck. I have changed the needle, spooled a fresh bobbin, cleaned the machine, made sure I threaded the needle with the foot up, changed the pressure right up to 6 from 4 etc etc. Nothing works. This tape must be designed to be machine stitched as it is sold for use on duvets etc. I even have some that is designed to be stitched into lingerie but they all cause my zipper foot to go bananas.
Please help me if you can...I need to get his clothes ready for school next week.
Many thanks for reading this.
Maura
