Chit Chat : Rose hangs on to win BMW Championship

    Author: coco
Subject: Rose hangs on to win BMW Championship
Posted: 08 Feb 2012 at 12:45am

Right when it looked as though Justin Rose might blow a big lead, he chipped in for birdie on the 17th hole to secure a two-shot victory Sunday in the BMW Championship that sends him to East Lake for a shot at $10 million.
Rose closed with an even-par 71 in the rain at Cog Hill for his first win of the year, and it came at just the right time. He was not assured of making the FedEx Cup finale at the Tour Championship, and now is one of five players who only have to win at EastLake next week to collect golf's biggest bonus. (Callaway 09 X-Forged Irons
)
But it wasn't easy.
Five shots ahead with 10 holes to play, Rose's lead was down to one after he drove into the trees on the par-5 15th and made bogey. From just short of the 17th green, however, the 31-year-old from England holed a chip from 35 feet for an unlikely birdie that sent him on his way.
Senden shot 70, and his runner-up finish moved him from No. 55 in the FedEx Cup to No. 9, putting him among the top 30 from the 70 players at Cog Hill to advance to the Tour Championship.
Rose wasn't the only big winner at the third playoff event. Geoff Ogilvy, who had to birdie the last hole at the TPC Boston two weeks ago just to stay alive in the playoffs, shot a 69 and finished alone in third. Now he's in the Tour Championship, and qualified for the Presidents Cup at Royal Melbourne. (Callaway 09 X-Forged Irons
)
Indeed, there was more than one cup at stake on a dreary afternoon south of Chicago.
It's the second straight year that Haas walked away from Cog Hill feeling empty. A year ago, he finished 31st in the FedEx Cup by a mere seven points. (Callaway 09 X-Forged Irons
)
Captains Fred Couples and Greg Norman will make two picks after the Tour Championship. Couples already has said Tiger Woods will be one of his picks.
For the FedEx Cup, Bo Van Pelt nailed down the 30th spot by a comfortable margin over Martin Laird. Even so, there were some tense moments. Despite difficult conditions, Camilo Villegas made nine birdies and had the best round of the day at 66. But he made bogey on the 18th hole, walked off the green to check a scoring terminal and slammed his fist onto the table.
Turns out it didn't matter.
The final round proved relatively flat, with only three players having a serious chance throughout the day. Rose was headed for a runaway when he birdied the sixth and seventh holes to reach 14 under, giving him a five-shot lead over Senden.

Chit Chat : Golf Tips for Left Handed Golfers

    Author: coco
Subject: Golf Tips for Left Handed Golfers
Posted: 08 Feb 2012 at 12:41am

Are you a left-handed golfer in need of help on improving your game? Here are some quick tips to help get your golf game on track and lower your scores!
A big mistake that many left-handed golfers make is a rather common one. They attempt to golf right-handed! As incredible as this may sound, it really is quite easy to understand. When most people first set out to learn how to play golf, they will borrow a friends set of golf clubs, unless they have the money to buy their own. This makes sense because most folks want to know if they are really going to like golf before they invest in an expensive set of golf clubs. So the clubs they borrow are likely to be right-handed. (Left Handed TaylorMade R11 Irons
)
There are a majority of left-handed golfers who will eventually go on to buy left-handed golf clubs. Again though, some will continue to play with right-handed clubs because they now have been playing with them for so long. They don’t want to try and learn how to play all over again with left-handed golf clubs.
It goes without saying that they will never be able to play golf as well as they could if they would only play with the proper clubs. When searching for golf tips, left-handed golfers have already discovered the most important tip of all and that is to play the game using left-handed clubs with their natural swing.
A good tip for left-handed golfers is to be cautious when choosing your new clubs. Unfortunately, left-handed golfers have a much more limited choice when it comes to purchasing golf clubs. This is especially true if you are shopping for clubs at a small golf store or local club. (Left Handed TaylorMade R11 Irons
)
Rather than simply buying a set of right-handed clubs that are not meant for you, consider holding off for a while. Wait until you can go to a bigger retail store or pro shop that will have a larger selection of golf clubs to choose from.
There is also one other option for you if you live in a small town and there are no sporting goods stores or golf shops nearby. You can buy your golf clubs through a mail order catalog. There are many good, reputable, mail order companies out there to choose from. You can find them by doing a search on the internet. A company like Golfsmith will have every conceivable golf club and equipment available to left-handed golfers.
She explained that the member who brought her to the club for a round of golf had an emergency that called him away and asked the trio whether she can join them.

Naturally, the guys all agreed.
Smiling, the blonde thanked them and said, “Look, fellows, I work in a topless bar as a dancer, so nothing shocks me anymore. If any of you wants to smoke cigars, have a beer, bet, swear, or tell off-color stories or do anything that you normally do when playing a round together, go ahead. But I enjoy playing golf, consider myself pretty good at it, so don’t try to coach me on how to play my shots.” (Ping G20 Tour Driver
)

With that the guys agreed to relax and invited her to drive first. All eyes were fastened on her shapely behind as she bent to place her ball on the tee. She then took her driver and hit the ball 270 yards down the middle, right in front of the green.

The father’s mouth was agape. “That was beautiful,”he said.

The blonde put her driver away and said, “I really didn’t get into it and I faded it a little.”

After the three guys hit their drives and their second shots, the blonde took out a nine iron and lofted the ball within five feet of the hole. (She was closest to the pin.)

The son said, “Damn, lady, you played that perfectly.”

The blonde frowned and said, “It was a little weak. I left a tricky little putt.” Then she tapped in the five-footer for a birdie. Author: levina5
Subject: Stunning new PING i20 irons set to launch
Posted: 07 Feb 2012 at 8:50pm

PING's i10 and i15 irons have always been highly-functional, but there are arguably better-looking clubs on the market - but now with the launch of their Ping i20 Irons
, PING might just have found the perfect balance between great aesthetics and stunning performance.
In terms of looks, the new i20 irons resemble PING's S56 more than the previous i15s, but there's certainly more forgiveness. The vertical Custom Tuning Port optimizes the centre of gravity, while the tungsten toe weight also helps to make the irons easier to hit.
The irons have been designed as a progressive set, so the long irons offer a high-launching ball flight while the shorter clubs offer more of a piercing trajectory and a greater deal of control. The longer irons are slightly larger too, while the shorterPing i20 Irons
offer a more compact look behind the ball.
The brilliance of thesePing i20 Irons
is that they genuinely will suit a wide variety of golfer - Senior Equipment Editor Jon Greathead (8 HCP) has been testing them to good effect, while World Number Two Lee Westwood has also been impressed with them.
We also think that even golfers with anything up to a 15 handicap will be able to get good use from them too, but we would strongly advise getting up to PING HQ in Gainsborough for a fiiting.
